province consists of two geographically distinct regions, a mountainous region and another flat. The mountainous region covers the entire south of the province and corresponds to the part of the Central Cordillera. The north of the province is one corresponding to the Valle del Yaque (or Cibao) flat region.

The main river of the province is the Dajabón border river, now called Slaughter.
The economy is mainly agricultural Dajabon. In recent years, it has become important to the province’s trade with Haiti.The main agricultural products are rice and coffee.
